A CHECKLIST FOR PROSPECTIVE RENTERS
Looking for a place to rent?? Renting is a BIG move whether you are renting for the first time or you are a veteran renter. Here is a list of questions to consider and ask the landlord or property manager before signing that lease.
- What utilities is the tenant responsible for? *What is the average cost of the utilities?
- Are pets allowed? *Is there a fee involved?
- Who is responsible for maintaining the lawn?
- Are there restrictions with regards to guests/parties?
- Which appliances are included?
- Can I paint, hang pictures on the walls?
- Where is the mail box? Or where do I pick up mail?
- What if I loose my key?
- Are there deadbolt locks on the exterior doors?
- Are there smoke detectors?
- Is there an emergency phone number in case of urgent maintenance issues?
All rental agreements should be in writing and include details about the rent, security deposit, inspections, termination notices and other responsibilities.
Don't Rent Trouble
Finding a place to rent requires thorough inspections and the strength to keep looking when they don't pan out. We recommend you do your homework and take your time inspecting the potential property.
